Spirit Airlines is set to furlough approximately 330 pilots on January 31, 2025, as part of its strategic approach to reduce expenditures and bolster financial stability, according to a company representative speaking with Reuters.

This follows another round of furloughs impacting 186 pilots last month. Known as an ultra-low-cost carrier, Spirit has faced financial losses despite robust demand for travel. It has not posted a profit in five of the last six quarters, casting concerns over its capacity to handle upcoming debt obligations.

"In pursuit of returning to profitability, we are executing a series of cost-saving measures across our operations, including workforce reduction," the Spirit spokesperson remarked.
