Air India, under the leadership of CEO Campbell Wilson, is making substantial progress following its privatization. This transformation comes as the airline aims to widen its global footprint in the coming years.
The interior updates on its single-aisle fleet, crucial for domestic and short-haul international flights, are progressing with an expected completion date of mid-2025. The acquisition by the Tata Group in January 2022 marked the beginning of an ambitious five-year transformation strategy for the previously loss-making airline.
Major milestones achieved include the merger with Vistara and the integration of Air India Express and AIX Connect, increasing its fleet to 300 aircraft and enabling expansion to over 100 destinations. With an additional order of 100 aircraft, the airline is further equipping itself for global expansion. Supporting infrastructure developments include new maintenance and training facilities across India, aligning with the country's status as a fast-growing civil aviation market. The commitment of Air India's 30,000 staff underscores its determination to become a world-class airline.
