Hundreds of anxious customers flocked to New India Co-operative Bank branches across Mumbai following stringent restrictions imposed by the Reserve Bank of India. The central bank's sudden directive prevents the lender from renewing loans, distributing payments, or allowing withdrawals, igniting fear among patrons reliant on their savings.

Outside the bustling branches, panic-stricken account holders lamented their inability to access their funds. Ashok Shetty, a local resident, expressed frustration over being unable to withdraw money for daily expenditures and educational fees, while another senior citizen struggled to access his meager savings.

This upheaval has cast doubt on the credibility of larger banks, as many customers demand transparency and communication. The RBI assured that eligible depositors will receive insurance claims of up to Rs 5 lakh, while observing the bank under tight scrutiny for six months to safeguard their interests.
