On the same day, an altercation in Belagavi saw a Karnataka bus conductor allegedly assaulted for not conversing in Marathi with passengers. The conductor, Mahadevappa Mallappa Hukkeri, was reportedly injured, and both assault and counter-assault cases were registered, with investigations underway.

This unrest has reignited long-standing border disputes and cultural tensions between Marathi and Kannada populations, with protests erupting and law enforcement making several arrests. Authorities emphasize the importance of maintaining peace as investigations continue.
