The Delhi High Court on Monday mandated the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to adhere to its phased timeline for implementing revised pilot duty and rest hours, starting from July 1, amid growing concerns over pilot fatigue.
Counsel for the DGCA informed Justice Tara Vitasta Ganju that an affidavit had been filed outlining the rollout of 15 out of 22 modified clauses by July 2025, with the rest completed by November. The petitioners pressured the court to ensure strict adherence to these deadlines.
The revised Civil Aviation Requirements (CAR) aim to address pilot fatigue by extending weekly rest periods and reducing night-time flights. These changes, agreed upon by pilot associations, promise to tackle long-standing grievances while ensuring safe flight operations.
