The Government has published its third Quarterly Investment Report as part of its commitment to improving the value derived from government spending and reinforcing fiscal discipline, Associate Minister of Finance and Minister for Infrastructure Chris Bishop announced today.
"For the third consecutive quarter, we are providing the public with greater transparency into the Government's investment pipeline and portfolio through the release of the Quarterly Investment Report. This initiative aims to enhance investment discipline and improve the performance of government agencies," Minister Bishop stated.
The latest report, prepared by the Treasury, covers the period from July to September 2024 and highlights incremental progress in planning and delivery across various government agencies. The report underscores the importance of comprehensive and accurate data, strong business cases, and improved asset management practices.
"Cabinet has made it clear to agency Chief Executives that they must drive improvements within their organizations. This means ensuring precise data reporting, strengthening business case development, and adopting robust asset management strategies," Minister Bishop emphasized.
He further noted that these improvements are vital to the successful implementation of key strategic priorities, including the 30-year National Infrastructure Plan. The Government remains committed to closely monitoring the progress and performance of major investments and will take corrective actions when necessary to ensure projects stay on track.
The next Quarterly Investment Report, which will cover the period from October to December 2024, is scheduled for release in May 2025.
