India's organised retail sector is experiencing rapid growth and is on track to reach USD 230 billion by 2030, according to a Deloitte-RAI report released on Thursday. As consumer preferences evolve and disposable incomes rise, the retail landscape in the country is undergoing a significant transformation.

The report indicates that the sector is expanding at a compound annual growth rate of 10 per cent. Key drivers include higher income levels, the emerging influence of GenZ consumers, increased credit availability, and a marked shift towards organised retail.

With credit access expanding, a larger demographic is being empowered to participate in the discretionary spending boom, further transforming the retail environment. Private consumption in India has surged from USD 1 trillion in 2013 to USD 2.1 trillion in 2024, outpacing major global economies like the US, China, and Germany.
