The Indian stock market started the week showing signs of struggle as global uncertainties loomed large. The Nifty 50 index opened the day at 22,521.85, experiencing a minor drop of 30.65 points or 0.14 percent, whereas the BSE Sensex gained slightly, opening at 74,474.98, rising by 142.40 points or 0.19 percent.
Global tensions continue to stifle market confidence. With cycles of threats and tariffs from the Trump administration, market goodwill is rapidly eroding. This situation complicates business forecasts and consumer confidence, potentially triggering inflation and hindering economic growth.
Market expert Ajay Bagga expressed caution, citing global polycrises as a shadow over Indian markets. "Invest cautiously, allowing markets time to absorb the multiple disruptions," Bagga advised. Meanwhile, certain sectors like Nifty Bank and Auto faced pressure, while others like Nifty Media showed positive movement.
In the Nifty 50, 28 stocks started in the red, led by IndusInd Bank's 5.35 percent drop. However, a noted reversal could occur if resistance levels are breached, leading to potential market revival, as expert Sunil Gurjar highlighted the importance of observing key resistance levels for trend shifts.
Elsewhere in Asia, mixed performances were recorded, with some markets such as Japan's Nikkei 225 seeing gains, while others, including Hong Kong's Hang Seng and Taiwan Weighted Index, faced declines. As global economic relations remain uncertain, markets exhibit caution.
