The Swadeshi Jagran Manch (SJM), a body linked with the RSS, has called for India to prioritize bilateral trade agreements over multilateral ones. This call comes in response to President Donald Trump's administration, which has challenged the global free trade system through reciprocal tariffs.
At a national council meeting held in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, resolutions were passed to protect India's national interests, especially concerning farmers and small entrepreneurs, during negotiations with the US. The SJM stressed the importance of continuing a 'Nation First' approach.
The meeting also endorsed the use of Indian products and urged the government to enhance foreign trade in Indian Rupees. It cautioned against foreign payment systems being used as pressure tactics amidst global economic shifts.
