The Transport Minister, Pratap Sarnaik, revealed that while current measures focus on alcohol tests, they acknowledge the growing issue of drivers consuming drugs. The new machines will supplement existing alcohol testing efforts.

Additionally, Sarnaik announced the implementation of AI technology to alert drivers of traffic violations, although he admitted that the highway Intelligent Traffic Management System has yet to be fully operational. This drive comes as accidents and fatalities continue to rise annually.
