The domestic Indian stock markets faced a turbulent session on Tuesday, marked by high volatility and ultimately closing flat. Both the BSE Sensex and the Nifty 50 displayed resilience amid fluctuating trends.

Initially dampened by global market sentiment, notably after Goldman Sachs downgraded its U.S. GDP forecast for 2025, the markets witnessed a trend of buying at low points, leading to a partial recovery. Nifty ended at 22,497.90, showing a slight increment after a shaky start.

Key players such as Trent and Sun Pharma emerged as significant gainers, whereas IndusInd Bank made headlines for a drastic 26% fall following revelations of accounting discrepancies. Sectoral indices were mixed, with the metal and telecom sectors rising modestly, while auto and IT fell by 0.5% each.

Analysts noted that the global economic mood, compounded by trade tensions and recession fears, played a crucial role in shaping market dynamics. Despite these challenges, the Nifty managed to close on a positive note, offering some respite amidst broader concerns.
