The Goa tourism department has taken a decisive step towards enhancing beach cleanliness by appointing EcostanInfra Pvt Ltd as the new contractor. A senior official confirmed the appointment on Tuesday, emphasizing its significance.
Effective from March 1, the contract covers comprehensive waste management for 51 beaches across North and South Goa. It includes the collection, segregation, transportation, and disposal of garbage, aiming to preserve the coastline's natural beauty while promoting responsible tourism.
Director of Tourism, Kedar Naik, stated that beach cleaning activities will be conducted in two daily shifts. The five-year contract can be extended by two years based on performance, ensuring ongoing efforts to maintain Goa's status as a major tourist hub.
