Amravati Airport Takes Flight with DGCA Certification

Amravati Airport, revamped by Maharashtra Airport Development Company, has received an aerodrome licence from DGCA. Alliance Air is set to commence flights to Mumbai by month's end, marking a significant step in Maharashtra's effort to expand aviation infrastructure and enhance regional connectivity.

Amravati Airport, located in Belora, has received its crucial aerodrome licence from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis confirmed that Alliance Air will begin operations from the airport to Mumbai by the end of the month, marking a new chapter in regional connectivity.

Originally developed by the Public Works Department in 1992, the airport remained unused for public flights. It was later revamped by the Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) with an extended runway and other critical upgrades, aiming to meet licensing standards.

The certification was symbolically handed to Fadnavis by MADC's managing director, Swati Pandey. This development aligns with the state's broader initiative to enhance its aviation infrastructure, which also includes projects in Chandrapur, Dhule, Shirdi, and Navi Mumbai, thus boosting local economic prospects.
