On Monday, the minister of state for cooperatives announced that approximately 31 lakh farmers in Rajasthan have benefited from the Sahakar Jeevan Bima Suraksha Yojana, with disbursements exceeding Rs 172 crore.
Minister Gautam Kumar highlighted the efficient management of the state government which has resulted in reduced premium costs for farmers. In the fiscal year 2024-25, farmers have collectively paid around Rs 186 crore in premiums, significantly lower than the previous year's Rs 360 crore.
The scheme targets loanee members of primary lending societies. However, the Raj Sahakar Personal Accident Insurance Scheme, intended for crop loan borrowers, was not implemented in 2023-24 due to the previous government's inaction. A committee will investigate these discrepancies, ensuring accountability and addressing premium variations.
