The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has successfully completed the installation of 169 track-km of precast slab track on the innovative Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor.
The challenging task involved the production of nearly 47,000 high-precision precast slabs, catering to both elevated viaducts and underground sections. For the first time in India, turnouts on precast track slabs were conceived and implemented, involving 135 turnouts across eight configurations and 140 different slab types.
Currently, trains are being tested at high speeds of 180 kmph, with the operational speed set at 160 kmph. The completion of a 55-km stretch marks significant progress, with full corridor operations expected by the end of the year.
