In a significant leadership shift, auto component company Sona Comstar announced the appointment of Jeffrey Mark Overly as its new Chairperson on Monday, after the unexpected death of Sunjay Kapur. Overly, an Independent Director since February 2021, was reappointed for a second term, pending shareholder approval.

The company praised Overly's perfect attendance and substantial contributions to board meetings, despite operating from a different time zone. In a heartfelt move, the board honored Sunjay Kapur posthumously as Chairman Emeritus, acknowledging his remarkable influence and leadership in steering the company through pivotal changes.

On the recommendation of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee, the board has also proposed Priya Sachdev Kapur, Sunjay Kapur's widow, for the role of Additional Non-Executive Director. The board expressed deep sorrow over Sunjay Kapur's sudden demise, noting his pivotal role in expanding the company's global presence and advancing sustainable mobility initiatives.
