In a bid to offset financial losses and attract more passengers, the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has announced a 15% discount on fares for those booking in advance for journeys over 150 km, effective from July 1.
The discount applies to both AC and non-AC buses, with bookings available at ticketing counters, on the website, and through the MSRTC mobile app. However, the concession is unavailable during peak travel seasons such as Diwali and summer vacations, according to Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik.
Apart from specific exceptions for other ongoing discounts, key routes like the Mumbai-Pune section on premium Shivneri buses and travel during major festivals including Ashadhi Ekadashi and Ganapati celebrations will be included in the scheme. This move comes as MSRTC battles financial troubles, with losses totaling Rs 10,324 crore in FY 2023-24.
