In Bengaluru, Chilume Ravikumar, a vibrant leader from the Vokkaliga community, spearheaded the Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Jayanthi celebration, paying homage to the city's founder through a remarkable three-day event. Organized by the Chilume Ravikumar Foundation, this annual occasion emphasizes civic pride, historical insight, and public participation, aiming to grow each year.
The festivities commenced with a community cleaning drive at the Kempegowda Samadhi on June 24. Volunteers gathered early, led by Ravikumar, to enhance environmental and civic responsibility. The day's pledge to maintain cleanliness echoed Kempegowda's civic principles, uniting participants in a collective act of respect.
The celebration reached its pinnacle on June 27th with Nadaprabhuge Deepa Namana, where 516 lamps were lit, symbolizing Kempegowda's birth anniversary. The Avenue Road reenactment of Bengaluru's founding was a standout, drawing crowds and fostering a sense of unity, heritage, and civic consciousness.
