Vrutti, a catalyst for livelihood improvement, recently secured a significant grant from the Walmart Foundation. The support will be directed toward strengthening 11 Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs) in Kalaburagi and Chikkaballapur districts, Karnataka, with the overarching goal of empowering 15,000 smallholder farmers.
Termed the 'Building 15,000 Resilient and Wealthy Small Farmers' initiative, this project is designed to enhance the resilience and promote the inclusive growth of smallholder farmers. This will be achieved through FPC-led models, allowing these entities to function as independent, scalable enterprises.
As part of the respective initiative, Vrutti plans to broaden financial and market access and enhance women's leadership within the agricultural sector. This will be supported by data analytics and climate-resilient practices aimed at boosting farmer incomes and fostering sustainability, positioning farmers as main participants in value chains.
