Tier-2 Cities Surge: India's GCC Job Landscape Eyes Resilient Growth
India's recruitment activity rose by 19% year-on-year in July 2025. Metro cities dominated job postings for GCCs, while Tier-2 cities like Kochi and Jaipur showed rapid growth. IT and fintech sectors led this uptrend. Entry-level jobs made up 42% of hires, showcasing a strong fresher talent pool.
In a promising development for India's job market, recruitment activity in July 2025 surged by 19% year-on-year, even as quarter-to-quarter hiring remained stable and month-on-month numbers dipped slightly by 2%, according to the foundit Insights Tracker.
The data underlines the sustained growth of Global Capability Centres (GCCs), which recorded a 12% YoY increase in job postings, affirming India's stature as a prime location for establishing high-value global teams. While metro cities like Bengaluru and Mumbai accounted for 91% of this activity, Tier-2 cities such as Kochi and Jaipur emerged as accelerating markets, experiencing a 21% rise.
The IT and fintech sectors remain pivotal, holding 38% and 21% of GCC jobs respectively. This growth is largely driven by entry-level roles, particularly in software engineering, highlighting the growing pool of fresh talent in India. As industry dynamism continues, the nation's GCC ecosystem is poised for further maturity and resilience.
