Tuesday brought chaos to Mumbai's railway commuters as severe rain inundations disrupted train services across the city. Both the Central Railway's main and harbour lines were affected with tracks submerged under nearly 17 inches of water, resulting in suspended services.
Officials reported suspensions between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Thane, along with delays and cancellations affecting long-distance trains. Stranded passengers faced extended stoppages while alternate routes like Metro services became necessary.
Impacted by the relentless downpour, bus operations were also hampered, leading to route diversions and stranded vehicles. Authorities stay vigilant, closely monitoring water levels and offering assistance at various stations across the city.
