Vedanta Resources is preparing to finalize the demerger of its Indian arm, a move seen as achievable within the current financial year, according to CEO Deshnee Naidoo. The company's restructuring efforts reflect new business dynamics following regulatory enhancements.
The National Company Law Tribunal is scheduled to review Vedanta Ltd's demerger plan, which aims to establish separate entities for its key business verticals. A recent NCLAT decision favored the demerger of Talwandi Sabo Power Ltd, advancing the company's restructuring agenda.
Naidoo emphasized that the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) raised no objections to the plan, which now excludes a previously proposed base metals carve-out, indicating a streamlined demerger process.
