Imphal airport temporarily suspended flight operations on Monday afternoon when a drone was reported near its premises, officials confirmed. This incident raised significant security concerns, prompting immediate precautionary measures.
The alarm was sounded at around 2 PM by an IndiGo flight arriving from Agartala, which cited the unmanned aerial vehicle on its final descent. The drone was detected at an altitude range of 3,600 to 4,000 feet, causing authorities to ground aircraft until further notice.
Operations resumed after receiving the necessary security clearance from local law enforcement agencies. Airport officials have issued stern warnings against unauthorized drone activity, emphasizing that violations will lead to strict legal consequences.
