Tragic Accident Claims Four Lives as SUV Plunges into Pond

A speeding SUV plunged into a pond near a toll plaza on the Kanpur-Prayagraj National Highway, resulting in the deaths of four men and injuries to five others. The accident occurred when the driver allegedly lost control due to a possible tyre burst. Authorities are providing medical aid to the injured.

In a tragic incident on the Kanpur-Prayagraj National Highway, four men lost their lives, and five others sustained injuries when their speeding SUV fell into a pond near a toll plaza in Fatehpur district, according to police reports on Wednesday.

The victims were reportedly returning to Prayagraj after attending a wedding in Kanpur when their vehicle veered out of control and plunged into the pond, some kilometers from Barauri toll plaza. The driver, Rahul Kumar, suggested a possible tyre burst as the vehicle began to wobble just before the accident.

Police immediately responded to the distress call, with the help of locals, to rescue the injured and retrieve the bodies of the deceased. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital and later referred to Kanpur for advanced treatment. Following the incident, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences and ordered for the best medical care for the survivors.
