In an unfortunate incident at Hong Kong's airport, a Boeing 747 cargo plane from Dubai veered off course and tragically skidded off the runway on Monday. The crash, which resulted in the deaths of two airport security staff, marks the deadliest airport incident in the region in over 25 years.
The freighter, operated by Turkish carrier ACT Airlines on behalf of Emirates, collided with a security patrol vehicle before plunging into the waters. Fortunately, all four crew members aboard the aircraft managed to escape unscathed, though the plane was partially submerged upon rescue operations.
To aid in the ongoing investigation, the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board has dispatched a team of five investigators to Hong Kong. Their expertise will be crucial in unraveling the factors that led to this catastrophic accident.
