4 killed, 12 injured as passenger van overturns following tyre burst in Ranchi

Four people were killed and 12 others injured as a passenger van overturned following a tyre burst in Jharkhand's Ranchi district on Thursday, police said.

The incident happened at Gosaindih in the Bundu police station area, 45 km from the state capital, around 2 pm, they said.

Sixteen people were travelling in the van to the 'Adivasi Jan Akrosh' rally organised by various tribal groups in Tau ground when the accident happened, they added.

The injured were admitted to the sub-division hospital, Bundu police station's in-charge Ram Kumar Verma said.

SDPO Om Prakash told PTI, ''The front tyre of the vehicle suddenly burst and the driver lost control. The vehicle overturned and rolled into a farmland.'' ''Conditions of some of the injured are stated to be critical,'' he said.
