Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that Indian Railways' punctuality increased to 80%, surpassing several European countries. Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw reported to the Rajya Sabha that Indian Railways has achieved an impressive punctuality rate of 80%, bettering the performance of several European counterparts. This substantial improvement is attributed to reinforced maintenance strategies and systematic operational upgrades introduced over recent years.

Highlighting progress within the sector, Vaishnaw pointed out that 70 railway divisions have surpassed a 90% punctuality rate. This achievement underscores the effectiveness of enhancements made in maintenance practices and operational frameworks.

The minister further elaborated on regional developments, noting the cultural significance of Ballia, serviced by 82 train operations. Additionally, he indicated a historical increase in the railway budget for Uttar Pradesh, signifying a marked leap from the pre-2014 allocation, with a focus on ensuring safety through the development of over 100 bridge designs.
