IndiGo Airlines faced significant disruptions at Ranchi airport on Saturday, with 14 flights cancelled and an additional five delayed, officials confirmed.
Airport Director Vinod Kumar reported that out of 36 scheduled flights, 14 were cancelled, comprising seven inbound and seven outbound flights. Efforts have been intensified to keep passengers informed via social media and additional service counters.
The ongoing issues stem from a shortage of crew and pilots, driven by newly imposed rules requiring mandatory rest periods for flight personnel. The airline has cancelled over 800 flights recently, and the government has responded by capping airfares and mandating refunds by Sunday.
