In a fierce battle for control of the eastern Ukrainian town of Pokrovsk, Ukrainian forces reported repulsing a mechanized assault initiated by Russian troops early Wednesday morning.
The 7th Rapid Response Corps posted on Facebook about the attack, noting the use of armoured vehicles, cars, and motorcycles by Russian convoys attempting to breach from the south towards the town's northern region.
Though Russia claims complete control over Pokrovsk, Ukrainian authorities insist they still hold the northern part. The capture of Pokrovsk would represent a significant triumph for Russia in the prolonged conflict.
