Congress leader Renuka Chowdhury voiced an urgent call to action on Tuesday, urging the government to expedite clearance for the Kothagudem greenfield airport in Telangana. Highlighted in her appeal was the airport's vital role in enhancing industrial connectivity, boosting tourism, and strengthening border security in the region.
During her address in the Rajya Sabha's Zero Hour, she lamented years of stagnation since the project's initial approval in 2016. 'A year has passed, nothing has happened on the ground,' Chowdhury stated, emphasizing the need for swift governmental approvals while being mindful of potential cost overruns.
The Congress MP stressed the strategic significance of establishing the proposed airport in Kothagudem, a hub for major industrial companies. She further urged hastened central clearances, linking project delays to increased costs and ongoing inconvenience in this economically and culturally critical area.
