India is experiencing a surge in patent applications, with 475,814 filings pending at different stages of processing as of November, informed Parliament on Tuesday.

Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada highlighted the near doubling of annual patent application filings over the last five years, credited to several government initiatives.

In related trade news, India exported goods valued at Rs 1,037.78 crore to Pakistan from May to October, while imports totaled Rs 57 lakh, with major exports being drug formulations and drug intermediates.
