Gujarat, Arunachal Pradesh, and Goa have achieved the distinction of being named the 'best performers' in nurturing startup ecosystems, as revealed by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade's latest rankings released on Friday. Gujarat has maintained this top position for five consecutive years, highlighting its continued excellence in fostering entrepreneurship.
This annual assessment ranks 34 states and Union territories in five categories: best performers, top performers, leaders, aspiring leaders, and emerging ecosystems. The evaluation aims to encourage states to enhance their startup potential through shared best practices and healthy competition.
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, speaking at the Startup India event, emphasized the significant growth since 2016, noting over two lakh registered startups across diverse sectors. Goyal also highlighted international interest, with nearly 100 countries eager to collaborate with India's burgeoning startup scene.
