Philippine authorities have intensified their search efforts for a missing motorboat, Amejara, which left a wharf in southern Davao City on Saturday but failed to arrive at its destination, Governor Generoso town, as planned on Monday. The boat was carrying nine passengers, including business people, lawyers, and four crew members.
On Monday, the coast guard, along with the navy, air force, and maritime police, launched an extensive search in the Davao Gulf. The rescue operation resulted in the discovery of one crew member on Tuesday who was found drifting near Sarangani Island. No further information about this crew member was disclosed.
Authorities have urged passing vessels and local communities to report any sightings of Amejara or its occupants. The missing individuals were reportedly on a fishing trip for leisure and sports, exploring the tuna-rich waters of Davao Gulf when the incident happened.
