Vizhinjam International Seaport in Kerala has made remarkable strides in a short span, climbing to the 83rd position globally among container ports, according to sources. The port, developed by Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited under a public-private partnership with the Kerala government, is setting new standards for deep-water container ports in India.
Recently inaugurated, the second phase of the port's development represents a Rs 16,000-crore investment, part of Adani Group's larger Rs 30,000-crore commitment in Kerala. The port's development is enhancing the state's competitiveness in global logistics, maritime trade, and ease of doing business.
Operational milestones such as the highest monthly container handling in January 2026 and advanced workforce initiatives, including employing female automated crane operators, underscore Vizhinjam's robust performance. With its advanced technology, the port is poised to play a pivotal role in India's maritime ambitions.
