Thiruvananthapuram International Airport has significantly bolstered its firefighting capabilities with the induction of three advanced Panther crash fire tenders (CFT), the airport management announced on Saturday.

These vehicles, procured from Austria-based Rosenbauer, a leading manufacturer of firefighting equipment, boast a 700 horsepower engine and can swiftly reach speeds of up to 80 km/h in under 30 seconds, thereby ensuring rapid response during emergencies.

Each tender is outfitted with an impressive capacity of 12,500 litres of water, 1,500 litres of foam, and 250 kg of dry chemical powder, reflecting a substantial improvement in the airport's readiness and commitment to safety.
