Meghalaya is on a promising trajectory to triple its economy by 2032, as revealed by Governor C H Vijayashankar during the state assembly's budget session on Monday. He emphasized commendable growth, pointing to a 9.66% real GSDP increase and post-pandemic recovery, positioning the state as India's second fastest-growing region.
The roadmap, dubbed 'Vision 2032' and aligned with the Meghalaya Excellence Framework, aims to propel the state into the nation's top 10 in per capita income and Sustainable Development Goals performance. The governor praised infrastructure initiatives worth over Rs 12,000 crore and the mobilization of private investments, targeting Rs 8,000 crore by 2032.
Expansions in social sectors, including healthcare and education, have been prioritized, with significant strides in technology connectivity and community development. The address also highlighted efforts in sports infrastructure and environmental sustainability, alongside robust law and order measures with nearly 3,000 police recruits slated to ensure enhanced governance.
