LPG Crisis Sparks Concerns for Eastern India's Hospitality Sector

The Hotel & Restaurant Association of Eastern India is alarmed by the shortage of commercial LPG cylinders, impacting eateries significantly. The crisis, exacerbated by West Asia tensions, threatens livelihoods and disrupts hotel operations in eastern regions, urging government intervention to stabilize supply and prevent further economic setbacks.

The Hotel & Restaurant Association of Eastern India (HRAEI) has raised alarms over the shortage of commercial LPG cylinders, a situation threatening the viability of small eateries in the eastern region. The crisis has become a significant concern for those relying heavily on this sector for their livelihood.

The ongoing turmoil in West Asia has further exacerbated the LPG shortage, leading the government to prioritize domestic gas allocation. This shift in policy has created a supply bottleneck for hotels and restaurants that typically depend on market-priced LPG cylinders for their daily operations.

Chandan, an official from the Hotel Pataliputra Continental, highlights that their operations are at the mercy of client inflow, making the crisis especially taxing. Hotels are finding themselves resorting to alternative fuel sources, like coal, to maintain services amid fears of ongoing shortages if the situation remains unaddressed.
