Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) has achieved a historic milestone by processing over 85 million tonnes of cargo in just 345 days during the current financial year. This marks the highest-ever cargo throughput in the port's 92-year existence. Chairperson M Angamuthu announced the achievement, crediting it to the dedicated efforts of the entire VPA team and effective coordination with stakeholders.
The achievement signifies improved operational efficiency and a streamlined process in cargo handling activities at the port. The steady growth in cargo throughput reflects VPA's commitment to enhancing its capabilities and operational performance. Angamuthu further expressed optimism that the port would meet its ambitious target of handling 90 million tonnes of cargo within the current financial year.
Looking ahead, the VPA Chairperson has set an even more ambitious goal of reaching 100 million tonnes by the financial year 2026-27. This target underlines the port's sustained growth momentum and its strategic focus on expanding its cargo handling capacity.
