Rousing Growth: Vizag Steel Plant Soars to New Heights
The Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd (RINL) witnessed remarkable growth in 2025-26, notably in production and sales. Hot metal production surged by 52%, liquid steel by 51%, and sales turnover increased by 22%, showcasing enhanced operational efficiency and capacity utilization.
The Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd (RINL), also known as the Vizag Steel Plant (VSP), reported impressive gains for the 2025–26 fiscal year. Key production metrics saw substantial increases compared to the previous year.
According to RINL Deputy General Manager J Mallikarjun Rao, hot metal production surged to nearly six million tonnes from 3.9 million tonnes, marking a 52% growth. Similarly, liquid steel output reached 5.6 million tonnes, an increase mirroring the hot metal progress. Crude steel also rose to 5.4 million tonnes, up by 51% from 3.5 million tonnes in the previous period.
Financially, RINL recorded a turnover of over Rs 22,300 crore, compared to approximately Rs 18,280 crore the year prior. This reflected a 22% increase in sales, with volume growing to 4.4 million tonnes from 3.4 million tonnes, signifying a 27% improvement. The company emphasized operational efficiency, capacity utilization, and customer satisfaction as key drivers of its success.
