Sazerac Bids $15 Billion for Jack Daniel's Maker Brown-Forman
U.S. spirits group Sazerac has made a $15 billion offer to acquire Brown-Forman, the maker of Jack Daniel's, in a competitive landscape marked by supply chain issues and changing consumption trends. This bid could challenge Pernod Ricard's existing merger talks with Brown-Forman.
In a significant move within the spirits industry, Sazerac has proposed a $15 billion acquisition of Brown-Forman, the renowned maker of Jack Daniel's, as reported by the Wall Street Journal.
The offer, priced at $32 per share, positions Sazerac as a strong contender against Pernod Ricard, who is already in merger discussions with the Kentucky-based distiller. Prevailing economic challenges, including supply-chain disruptions and fluctuating U.S. tariffs, have pressured alcohol companies, intensifying the competitive environment.
While Sazerac remained unavailable for comments, analysts speculate that Pernod's extensive portfolio and international clout render it a preferable partner. If successful, a Pernod-Brown-Forman merger could strategically strengthen their foothold in the U.S. market, rivaling industry leader Diageo.
