In a swift response to a potential crisis, railway officials managed to avert a major incident on the Arrah–Durg South Bihar Express. Smoke was detected in multiple coaches on Thursday, attributed to 'brake binding' under Chakradharpur division, South Eastern Railway officials reported.

According to Om Prakash Charan, Chief Public Relations Officer of South Eastern Railway, vigilant railway staff noticed the issue promptly. The train was halted immediately, and the stuck brakes were manually released, preventing further complications. The incident took place at two locations, yet it had minimal impact on rail traffic along the Howrah–Mumbai route.

After reaching Rourkela, the train underwent an inspection, with final checks slated for its destination in Durg. Brake binding occurs when brake blocks stay pressed against the wheel tread even after release, risking overheating and damage.
