An Oscar statuette awarded to Russian director Pavel Talankin, for his documentary 'Mr. Nobody Against Putin,' has been found after it went missing during a flight from New York to Germany, according to Lufthansa on Friday.

Talankin was compelled to check the award into the luggage hold due to security concerns at John F. Kennedy International Airport. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agents cited the award's 8.5 lb weight as a potential security threat, resulting in it being misplaced, co-director David Borenstein shared via Instagram.

Lufthansa confirmed the Oscar has been located in Frankfurt and is in their possession, pending return to Talankin. The airline issued an apology for the inconvenience and emphasized the importance of guest belongings' safety. An internal investigation is underway, while the TSA has not yet commented.
