The Indian government is setting ambitious goals for the concert economy, aiming to transform the country into a global hub for live events by 2030. This vision was discussed at the 4th meeting of the Live Events Development Cell (LEDC), under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
Chaired by Chanchal Kumar, Secretary at the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the meeting included representatives from nine central ministries, six states, and 12 industry experts. The focus was on positioning the concert economy as a cornerstone for employment generation and national growth, with a target to create 15-20 million jobs.
Key initiatives include the development of a single-window clearance system for event permissions on the India Cine Hub (ICH) portal. Additionally, the adoption of a 'Model Executive Order' by 2026 aims to streamline licensing across states, enhancing transparency and efficiency in the live events industry's regulatory framework.
