Airlines on the Brink: No Bailout Says U.S. Transport Chief

U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy stated on Saturday that government bailouts might not be necessary for low-cost airlines requesting $2.5 billion in aid due to soaring jet fuel prices.
Speaking at a press conference held at Newark airport, Duffy expressed confidence in the airlines' ability to secure funding from private markets, suggesting that government intervention might only be needed as a last resort.
'If they have access to cash, it's better for them to source dollars from private markets rather than depend on government assistance,' Duffy noted, indicating that while willing, the government's support comes as a fallback option.
