A tragic accident claimed the life of a 46-year-old man and injured three others when an iron barricade toppled onto an autorickshaw on a highway in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on Sunday morning. The mishap occurred on the Sarkhej-Gandhinagar Highway in the Makarba area around 9.15 am, according to police sources.
Ajay Mahto, a laborer originally from Bihar, was killed in the incident. The injured passengers have been identified as Ranjan Mandal, Dinesh Mandal, and Sanjeev Dhanur, authorities confirmed. Eyewitnesses reported that a passing bus generated strong wind pressure, which dislodged the iron barricade used for ongoing bridge construction, leading it to collapse onto the autorickshaw.
Local residents quickly responded to the scene, notifying emergency services and assisting in rescue operations. However, medical personnel declared Mahto dead upon arrival. Law enforcement officials have registered the incident as an accidental death and have launched a detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
