Spirit Airlines, a once-prominent discount carrier, has officially ceased operations, a U.S. bankruptcy court revealed. The decision came after exhaustive efforts to reorganize, which ultimately proved unsuccessful.
Fred Comer, the company's chief financial officer, stated that although Spirit Airlines nearly succeeded in restructuring, an orderly wind-down became the only option.
