UAE Airspace Restrictions Amid Security Threats

The United Arab Emirates has restricted its airspace routes following security threats from Iranian missiles and drones. The General Civil Aviation Authority issued emergency security protocols, affecting flight paths and necessitating diversions. The restrictions came shortly after the UAE had declared its airspace clear.

The United Arab Emirates has tightened its airspace security, imposing restrictions on flights to a limited number of approved routes, effective until at least May 11. This move was detailed in Notices to Air Men (NOTAMs) issued by the country's General Civil Aviation Authority.

The newly implemented restrictions come just days after the UAE had lifted previous precautionary airspace measures. The UAE reported on Monday that its air defenses successfully intercepted Iranian missiles and drones, causing several flights to divert to Oman's Muscat and loiter over Saudi Arabia.

The NOTAMs indicated that the 'EMIRATES FIR'—the Flight Information Region—was partially closed. Consequently, aircraft traveling to and from the UAE are now required to use specific entry and exit points, as reported by Reuters.
