Construction work on the Chingrighata section of Kolkata Metro's Orange Line is set to commence on May 15, according to a senior Metro official. The Eastern Metropolitan Bypass, a critical route, will see extended traffic restrictions over two consecutive weekends to facilitate the project.
The Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), responsible for the project, will manage segment launching on piers P-317, P-318, and P-319 as part of the elevated viaduct construction between Kavi Subhas and the airport.
Following the recent BJP government victory in West Bengal, officials are hopeful the work will progress swiftly, overcoming previous hurdles in Metro project expansions. The Chingrighata stretch aims to resolve a long-standing connectivity bottleneck in the city.
