Tensions Rise: Ship Seized Near UAE Coast
A ship anchored off the UAE's east coast has been seized and is en route to Iranian waters, according to the British military. The UKMTO is investigating the unauthorized seizure, which occurred near the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz and close to the crucial oil export terminal in Fujairah.
A vessel anchored off the coast of the United Arab Emirates has reportedly been seized, heading toward Iranian waters, as per the British military's statement on Thursday.
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations revealed they received reports of unauthorized personnel commandeering the ship, which was stationed 38 nautical miles northeast of the UAE's Fujairah port, near the essential Strait of Hormuz.
While the UKMTO is currently investigating the incident, they have not disclosed the ship's name or further details. Notably, Fujairah serves as a significant oil terminal, consistently a target amid ongoing tensions involving Iran.
