The Indian Railways has announced an ambitious redevelopment project for Amritsar railway station, backed by a Rs 402-crore budget. This historic initiative promises to provide world-class amenities while preserving the city's renowned cultural and spiritual heritage, as stated by Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu.
Plans for the redevelopment include constructing state-of-the-art station buildings, with both modern infrastructure and a cultural touch. The project will feature five new platforms, improved train handling capacity, and modern facilities like subways, lifts, escalators, and upgraded parking to enhance passenger convenience.
The launch of the new Amrit Bharat Express train service marks a key milestone in expanding rail connectivity between north and eastern India. With modern amenities and economical fares, the train aims to serve various passenger needs, tying in with broader rail infrastructure improvements across Punjab.
